Kenya has one of the best, if not THE best e-currencies in the world, M-PESA

When in Kenya, you can use one of a number of currently conversion services to send mpesa from your US phone.

I've had good experiences with Remitly, although typically you can only send money to individuals, not companies (it does not support "Paybill") which is how most Kenyan businesses such as supermarkets receive mpesa.

Many, if not most Kenyan businesses accept Visa/Mastercard. You will encounter issues with official goverment agencies.
